Austin “Auz” Lawrence

Austin, sometimes known as “Auz,” is one of the Stewards of Raven’s Knoll.  Auz has been a member of the Pagan community since 1996.  A few years later he threw himself into volunteering for the Kaleidoscope Gathering, eventually becoming one of the volunteers running programming.  He is interested in all aspects of modern Paganism and loves to engage and encourage the diversity of belief and personal spiritual development of members of the community.  His personal spiritual journey has included pantheism and green spirituality, an interest in Wicca and traditional witchcraft, chaos magick and Discordianism, Hermeticism and spiritual alchemy, as well as an eclectic interest in European mythology and the archaeology of prehistoric religious practice.  The Mjölnir amulet Auz has worn continuously since joining the Pagan community became a sign of his full dedication to being an adherent of Old Norse Religion, called Heathenry or Ásatrú, in 2006.  Since 2008, Auz has been an oathed goði associated with the American Vinland Association.  He is also a member of the Troth.  Auz has a Master’s degree in Anthropology, which has led to a full time career that he does alongside the “hobby” of running Raven’s Knoll and the Kaleidoscope Gathering with his wife, Maryanne Pearce, which they took over as main organizers in 2009.  Auz is one of the organizers of the Hail and Horn Gathering.  Auz is interested in Medieval Martial Arts, ancient cooking and brewing and all things Old Norse.  Auz is also a former Stag King of the Kaleidoscope Gathering.  Almost every weekend from May to October you can find Auz at Raven’s Knoll working with his friends (i.e., volunteers) maintaining the land, planning festivals, or assisting with putting on Pagan and Heathen gatherings and events.
